Disability Resource Center
  Welcome

Dan, Lorel and I are pleased to assist you in the pursuit of your academic endeavors.  Our program is based on empowerment.  We encourage students with disabilities to be as independent as possible.  Whether students choose to exercise their rights, or use our services, is up to them.  Our mission is to enable students with disabilities to maximize their potential for academic success by ensuring both physical and programmatic access to BCC, coordinating individual student needs with available support services and resources, and providing a supportive atmosphere that promotes self-reliance.

If you are a student with a disability, you should know that Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act of 2008, are federal laws that require institutions of higher education to modify policies, practices, and procedures as needed; and assure accessibility of courses and examinations for qualified students with documented disabilities.  However, to receive services, you must contact us,  provide documentation of your disability, and collaborate with us to develop an individualized academic accommodation plan.  This plan will help ensure your academic success.  By the way, you might be surprised to learn that over 250 students with disabilities have sought services through the DRC, and the numbers continue to rise each semester.  In other words, you are not alone!  Please contact us and let us help you succeed.

Sincerely,
