You CAN afford BCC! We offer quality programs at a cost that many can work into their budgets. But if you're feeling like you could use a little or a lot of help, financial aid is available for you. It's how we make BCC affordable for everyone.
Financial aid includes:
- grants, waivers, scholarships ("free money" which doesn't have to be repaid)
- on and off-campus work-study jobs that allow you to earn while you learn
- low-interest student loans for which repayment begins after you graduate
Half of all BCC students take advantage of aid opportunities to get the help they need. In fact, BCC distributes more than $4 million in federal and state aid each year to students just like you. Be savvy about paying for college. Avoid money worries. Focus on your studies. Financial aid can make all the difference to your academic success.
Who can apply? U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents; day or evening, full- or part-time students. Save time and avoid costly mistakes by filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Did you know that the Financial Aid Office has student work-stations? Drop in, apply for aid online, and get help from us while doing it!
It's almost never too late to apply, but file your FAFSA by May 1 anyway. BCC will process applications year-round while funds last, but the only way to ensure you'll get the most grant money you can qualify for is to meet the May 1 Massachusetts resident FAFSA-filing deadline each year. It can make the difference between having to take out a loan for school or not!
Too good to be true? At BCC, many students receive enough aid to cover not only tuition and book charges but also to help offset commuting or child care costs or other living expenses while enrolled. There's one important catch you should know about. To remain eligible to re-apply for aid annually, you'll need to successfully complete the majority of classes you attempt.
