Summer Art Workshops for Youth and Adults
Jun 18, 2009

Berkshire Community College will offer the following art workshops at its South County Center in Great Barrington this summer:

"Taking Off With Van Gogh" (WKS 1572) uses deep vibrant colors to experiment with the palette knife to create a painting that bursts with highly charged expression working from prints of Van Gogh. Using the knowledge gained from a Van Gogh print, participants move to create a colorful still life reflecting their personality. Classes, taught by Arthur Yanoff, meet Tuesday morning, July 7 through Aug. 25, from 9 to 12. Cost for registration is $240.

"Painting and Drawing to Music for Youth" (WKS 1574) teaches children to draw while having the freedom to use forms that speak to their personality. Students have fun and experiment with the use of art materials such as oils, acrylics and charcoal. Classes for grades 5 through 7, taught by Harriette Joffe, meet Thursday morning, July through Aug. 13, from 9 to 12. Classes for grades through 12, meet from 1 to 4. Cost for registration is $185.

"The Magic of Painting and Drawing to Music-Adult Seminar" (WKS 1575), a new workshop, teaches participants to draw while having the freedom to use forms that speak to them personally. Students have fun and experiment with the use of art materials such as oils, acrylics and charcoal. Classes, taught by Joffe, meet Thursday evening, July 16, from 6 to 7:30; and Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, from 9 to 3. Cost for registration is $150.
