Nonprofit Management Careers Certificate
Jan 26, 2010

Anyone interested in a career in nonprofit management still has time to register for the following noncredit courses at Berkshire Community College. Unless otherwise noted, all classes meet Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 on the college's main campus in Pittsfield.

"Program and Marketing Skills" (WKS 1153) shows how to develop, implement and evaluate mission-oriented programs; and how to communicate with the public via various media. Classes meet March 24 through April 14.

"Staff Management and Human Resources Skills" (WKS 1154), an exploration of personnel issues, covers such topics as staff evaluation processes, hiring, probation and dismissal procedures, selection of new employees, and salary increases or decreases. Classes meet April 21 through May 12.

"Basic Issues in Management Careers" (WKS 1151) explores the requirements for professional positions in nonprofit management and the importance of understanding leadership responsibilities and team building. Classes meet Monday through Wednesday, May 24-26; and Tuesday and Wednesday, June 1-2.

Taught by Gene Wenner, president of Arts & Education Consultants, the workshops may be taken individually at $80 each, or as a package. Registering for the package (WKS-1150) provides access to all four courses for the price of three. Participants successfully completing the package receive a Nonprofit Management Careers certificate.
