BCC to Offer Computer Workshops in South County

Berkshire Community College will offer the following computer workshops at its South County Center this spring.

"Computer Basics for the Adult Learner" (WKS-102) a workshop designed for parents, grandparents, and seniors, helps new or novice computer users, using Microsoft Windows 7, learn the parts of the computer and computer terminology. Participants learn the help function and basic computer maintenance. The course provides students with a solid foundation to use other computer software and the Internet. Classes meet Saturday, Jan. 29 through Feb. 12, or Saturday, May 14, to May 28, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $130.

"Internet for the Adult Learner" (WKS-140) teach students the difference between browsers and search engines and how to use them. The workshop also covers the dos and don'ts about banking and purchasing online and how to download' a program from the internet. Students will also learn about Microsoft Window's security and how it can help protect their computer. Classes meet Saturday, Feb. 26 and March 5, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $80.

"MS Word 2007: An Introduction" (WKS-330) designed for people who have MS Word 2007, helps students discover the ease with which they can use this extremely powerful program. This workshop teaches 2007's new options: ribbons, tabs, groups and control features. Participants create, edit, save, correct and print documents, and use such features as cut or copy and paste, changing margins and line spacing, setting tabs, creating columns, tables and understand the Help function. Classes meet Saturday, March 19 through April 2, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $80.

"Introduction to Excel 2007" (WKS 331) is designed for the computer novice who has MS Excel 2007 and is interested in developing rudimentary skills. MS Excel 2007's new options: ribbons, tabs, groups and control features are introduced. Students create, modify and print simple spreadsheets and learn to copy, move, clear, insert and delete cells, rows and columns. Classes meet Saturday, April 16 through April 30, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $130.
