BCC to Offer Music Workshops this Spring

Anyone interested in learning to write songs, play guitar, or brush up on guitar skills, is invited to register for the following music workshops held at the South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC) this spring.

"Absolute Beginner's Guitar" (WKS 796) teaches the basics of guitar from tuning, strumming and fingerpicking to simple lead and bass lines. Participants will be playing songs from week one. Classes meet Tuesday, Feb. 1 through May 17, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, or 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or Thursday, Feb. 3 through May 19, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Cost for registration is $145.

"Absolute Beginners' Guitar - Part II" (WKS-893) is a continuation of Absolute Beginners' Guitar. Classes meet Tuesday, Feb. 1 through May 17, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, or Thursday, Feb. 3 through May 19, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Cost for registration is $145.

"Songwriting Workshop" (WKS-1528) teaches the basic of songwriting. Students work on weekly assignments designed to improve writing skills. Classes meet Thursday, Feb. 3 through May 19, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Cost for registration is $145.

"Guitar Jam Workshop" (WKS-841) combines group play with practical applications of music theory and guitar techniques. Play the guitar with other students to learn more about music and improve playing skills. Classes meet Thursday, Feb. 3 through May 19, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Cost for registration is $145.

"Open Mic Workshop" (WKS-1526) teaches students how to work out performance jitters before performing for an audience. Classes meet Saturday, March 26 through April 9, or April 16 through March 30, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Cost for registration is $95.
