BCC to Offer Courses at Downtown Locations

Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer several courses at the Intermodal Education Center on the corner of North Street and Columbus Avenue, and at their new location, the Conte Federal Building located on 78 Center Street in downtown Pittsfield. BCC credit courses to be held at the Intermodal Education Center this fall, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 6, are shown below.

"Composition I" (ENG-101) an introduction to college-level composition. Classes meet Wed., from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

"Beginning ESOL II" (ESL-102) a continuation of ESL 101, covers listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

"Beginning ESOL III" (ESL-103) an advanced beginning level ESL, includes paraphrasing, vocabulary development and use of an English-English dictionary. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

"Intermediate ESOL I" (ESL-201) a survey of the basic structures of English through reading and writing. Classes meet Mon., and Wed., from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

"Advanced ESOL" (ESL-202) a continuation of ESL 201 with further focus on academic writing through vocabulary building. Classes meet Mon., and Wed., from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

"Mathematics Modules" (MAT-800) allows students who are intimidated by regular mathematics courses to progress at their own rate. Classes meet Mon., from 5:15 PM to 8:15 PM.

"Human Growth and Development" (PSY-204) a survey of the psychological, physiological, and social development of humans. Classes meet Tues., from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

BCC credit courses to be held at the Conte Federal Building include:

"Cultural Anthropology" (ANT-101) an introduction to the peoples and cultures of the world. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., form 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM.

"Introduction to Criminal Justice" (CRJ-105) studies history, development, philosophy, and constitutional aspects of the U.S. criminal justice system. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., from 9:05 AM to 10:20 AM.

"Substance Abuse Education" (CRJ-108) examines substance abuse from several perspectives. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM.

"Composition I" (ENG-101) an introduction to college-level composition. Classes meet Mon., and Wed., from 8:50 AM to 10:05 AM.

"US Government" (GOV-105) an examination of the American structure of government at the national, state, and local levels. Classes meet Mon., and Wed., from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM.

"Western Civilization Since 1500" (HIS-114) an examination of the political, social, and cultural history of Western civilization from the Renaissance to the present. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., from 7:40 AM to 8:55.AM.

"Elementary Algebra IV-VI" (MAT-029) the second semester of a two-semester sequence in elementary algebra prepares students for intermediate algebra. Classes meet Tues., and Thurs., from 9:05 AM to 10:20 AM.
