Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer the following computer workshops at its South County Center this spring.
"Computer Basics for the Adult Learner" (WKS-102) a workshop designed for parents, grandparents, and seniors, helps new or novice computer users, using Microsoft Windows 7, learn the parts of the computer and computer terminology. Participants learn the help function and basic computer maintenance. The course provides students with a solid foundation to use other computer software and the Internet. Classes meet Saturday, Jan. 21 through Feb. 4, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $130.
"Internet Adult Learners" (WKS-140) teaches students the difference between browsers and search engines and how to use them. The workshop also covers the dos and don'ts about banking and purchasing online and how to download' a program from the internet. Students will also learn about Microsoft Window's security and how it can help protect their computer. Classes meet Saturday, Feb. 18 and Feb.25, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $80.
"Basics of Internet Email" (WKS-222) covers basic Internet messaging, creating, addressing and sending email. Students will learn how to attach a picture or document to a message, reply to and forward messages. Creating distribution lists, capturing email addresses and maintaining email folders will also be covered. Students must have an active email account and know their username and password in order to access their email. Classes meet Saturday, March 10 and March 17, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $80.
"MS Word 2007 an Introduction" (WKS-330) is designed for people who have MS Word 2001. Participants will learn 2007's new options: ribbons, tabs, groups and control features. This workshop will teach how to create, edit, save, correct and print documents and the use of such features as cut or copy and paste, changing margins and line spacing. Classes meet Saturday, March 31 through April 14, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $130.
