BCC to Offer Photo/Antique Workshops this Spring in South County

The following workshops will be held at the South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC) this spring.

"Introduction to Photography - Digital and Film" (WKS-2235) designed for the enthusiastic beginner, focuses on the essentials necessary to get started in the photographic process. Participants learn to manually create a correct exposure using aperture, shutter speed and ISO. They are introduced to the full range of camera basics from image capture and editing to different file type, film and workflow issues. Students learn methods for composing, printing, and storage. Participants must bring their digital or film SLR, or point and shoot camera (with manual), and paper for printing photographs. Classes meet Wednesday, Jan. 25 through Feb. 15, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Cost for registration is $125.

"Antiques 101" (WKS-2100) discusses the language of antiques, methods of buying, displaying goods, selling and the legal requirements a dealer must address. This workshop covers the evolution of the designs of the 18th and 19th century furniture and other decorative art. Characteristics to look for in the determination of the age of an item, the Action Process and Appraisal Process are also covered. Classes meet Wednesday, Jan. 25 through March 21, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Cost for registration is $150.
