BCC Announces New Workshops for the Spring Semester

New workshops, for the New Year, will be offered on Berkshire Community College's (BCC) main campus this spring semester which begins Monday, Jan.23.

"Phlebotomy Technician Program" (WKS-1164) a 90-hour program, prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Note: There is no outside externship rotation included with this program. Classes meet Monday and Wednesday, March 5 through June 18, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Cost for registration is $1,599. Instruction is provided through Condensed Curriculum.

"Life Sciences for Body Artists" (WKS-286) tailored to the professional needs of body artists, this course covers structure and functions of the human body as well as microorganisms and their effects on man. The course provides a comprehensive overview of underlying concepts as well as training in practical applications. The material is presented and practiced in four class meetings that build on one another and meets the requirements set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Material will be provided. Classes, taught by Frank Schickor, meet Wednesday, April 4 through April 25 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Cost for registration is $120.
