BCC to Hold Auditions for Shakespeare's Love & Greed Dec. 17

Berkshire Community College's Department of Fine and Performing Arts will hold auditions for its winter production of Shakespeare's Love and Greed on Monday, Dec. 17 at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. in the Boland Theatre.

Created by award winning playwright Yvette "Jamuna" Sirker, the story of love and greed uses text from 10 of Shakespeare's plays. Sirker, who teaches acting and communication in BCC's Division of Humanities, will also direct the production.

Actors are asked to come prepared to perform a memorized classical monologue no more than two minutes in length. Classical monologues may include Shakespeare's soliloquies and sonnets or work from other classical texts.

Actors with no prior experience in classical theater are welcome to audition with contemporary monologues. Actors with movement and dance training are encouraged to audition. Audition will include movement warm-up.


  • Auditions will be held Dec. 17 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. (Boland Theatre K-110)
  • Call backs will be held Dec. 18.
  • Rehearsals begin Jan. 14, 2013.
  • Performances are slotted for March 1 - 3, 2013.
