Music Workshops Offered At BCC

Anyone interested in learning or brushing up on their music skills, is invited to register for one or more of the following workshops held this summer at the South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC).

"Beginners' 5 String Banjo" (WKS-1549) teaches the basics of playing 5-string banjo and then progress to simple rolls, fills and other musical techniques that will have participants playing music with others in no time. Classes meet Tuesdays, May 28 through Aug. 13, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Cost for registration is $105.

"Beginning Ukulele" (WKS-1542) teaches all the basics of the ukulele as well as fun tricks to make participants sound great. Classes meet Tuesdays, May 28 through Aug. 13, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Cost for registration is $105.

"Songwriting Workshop" (WKS-1528) teaches the basics of songwriting. Students work on weekly assignments designed to improve writing skills. Classes meet Tuesdays, May 28 through Aug. 13, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Cost for registration is $105.

"Beyond Basic Guitar" (WKS-1672) expands students' basic guitar skills. This workshop teaches about capos and transposing and playing in different positions up and down the neck of the guitar. Classes meet Thursdays, May 30 through Aug. 15, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Cost for registration is $210.

"Summer Jam I" (WKS-888) focuses on playing music with others in impromptu jams. Classes meet Thursdays, May 30 through August 15, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Cost for registration is $125.

"Absolute Beginners' Guitar" (WKS-796) teaches the basics of guitar from tuning, strumming and finger picking to simple lead and bass lines. Classes meet Thursdays, May 30 through August 15, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Cost for registration is $95.
