BCC to Offer Fiction Writing, Quilting, & Antique Workshops this Summer in South County

The following workshops will be held at the South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC) this summer.

"Hand Quilting" (WKS-258) a progression of needlecraft skills, experiments with shape, color and design. Students make a quilted six-block wall hanging composed of various chosen patterns. Topics include a review of sewing stitches, arranging color, block cutting and assembly, sandwiching layers, and quilting stitches. Classes meet Tuesdays, May 28 through July 30, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Cost for registration is $175.

"Antiques 102" (WKS-102) a continuation of Antiques 101, discusses the language of antiques, buying, selling, and metals, and collectables, as well as other decorative art. Classes meet Wednesdays, May 29 through July 17, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Cost for registration is $150.

"Fiction Writing I" (WKS-959) a creative writing workshop that encourages and guides writers to explore the many facets of fiction. Participants read stories, engage in writing exercises in class and at home, and study the use of detail, point of view, scene vs. narration, dialogue, and other important aspects of creative writing. Classes meet Wednesdays, May 29 through June 26, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Cost for registration is $75.

"Fiction Writing II" (WKS-968) a continuation of Fiction Writing I. Classes meet Wednesdays, July 10 through Aug. 7, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Cost for registration is$75.
