Forums Announced for Pittsfield City Council Candidates

Berkshire Community College (BCC) will host two forums for Pittsfield city council candidates Monday, September 16 in the Koussevitzky Arts Center, room K-111 on BCC's main campus at 1350 West Street.

The three candidates seeking the ward 1 seat, which include incumbent Christine Yon and challengers Tammy Ives and Lisa Tully, will meet at 6:30 p.m. The forum will be moderated by David Cachat, coordinator of PCTV's CityLink channel.

The four candidates seeking the ward 3 seat, which Paul Capitanio is vacating, include Nick Caccamo, Jeffrey Germann, Richard Latura and Thomas Wells, Jr., will take place at 7:30 p.m. This forum will be moderated by Dan Dillon, a former city councilor and former president of Berkshire United Way.

The candidates will face off in a September 24 preliminary election. The top two finishers in each race will advance to the November 5 municipal election.

The forums are part of a free collaborative series sponsored by BCC, PCTV and the Pittsfield Gazette. The top finishers in the preliminary election will be invited to debates to be held at BCC in October.

The ward 1 and 3 races will be the only races contested in the September 24 preliminary election.

The public is welcome to attend the free events or watch live telecasts on Pittsfield Community Television. PCTV will also provide l internet feeds (live and post-event on-demand) at www.pittsfieldtv.org.
