BCC to Host Debates on Oct. 21

Berkshire Community College (BCC) will host three debates on Mon., Oct. 21 for Pittsfield city council candidates and the School Committee. The debates will be held in the Koussevitzky Arts Center, room K-111, on BCC's main campus at 1350 West Street.

The two candidates seeking the Ward 1 seat, incumbent Christine Yon and challenger Lisa Tully, will meet at 6 p.m. The debate will be moderated by Bill Sturgeon.

The debate between Nick Caccamo and Richard Latura, the candidates seeking the Ward 3 seat, will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will also be moderated by Sturgeon.

The seven candidates vying for seats on the School Committee include: Katherine Yon (incumbent), Daniel Elias (incumbent), Joshua Cutler, Brittany Douglas, Pamela Farron, Anthony Riello and Cynthia Taylor. This debate will begin at 7:30 p.m. The moderator is to be determined.

The forums are part of a free collaborative series sponsored by BCC, PCTV and the Pittsfield Gazette.

The City of Pittsfield will hold municipal elections on Tues., Nov. 5.

The public is welcome to attend the free events or watch live telecasts on Pittsfield Community Television. PCTV will also provide internet feeds (live and post-event on-demand) at www.pittsfieldtv.org.
