BCC to Hold Grand Opening of New Veterans Lounge

WHO: Berkshire Community College (BCC) will hold a press conference to celebrate the Grand Opening of the college's new Veterans Lounge. The event will feature remarks from BCC President Ellen Kennedy, Massachusetts State Secretary of Veterans' Affairs Coleman Nee, as well as area politicians/officials.

Representatives from Home Base, a Boston-based organization founded by the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital that provides care for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who have combat or deployment-related stress or traumatic brain injury will also be in attendance.

BerkshireWorks, which is also adding a new Veterans Center, will also participate.

WHAT: BCC's Veterans Lounge will provide a designated area for our student veterans to interact with other veterans, provide a quiet place to study or take a break between classes, and offers computer access with Wi-Fi. The lounge, as well as a part-time staff assistant who will work directly with our student veterans, was funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Community Colleges & Workforce Development Transformation Agenda (MCCWDTA).

WHERE: The Susan B. Anthony Lounge, BCC's Main Campus, 1350 West St., Pittsfield, MA

WHEN: Thurs., Nov. 14 at 11 a.m.
