Housing and Economic Development Secretary Greg Bialecki on Thursday (March 6) will lead a roundtable discussion with the Berkshire advanced manufacturing workforce, followed by a tour of the machine shop at Taconic High School in Pittsfield.

The roundtable discussion with the Berkshire advanced manufacturing workforce, education and employer partners will serve as an opportunity to discuss the progress that has been made in creating a local partnership that responds to the workforce needs of manufacturers in the region.

A live training class will be in session during the tour of the machine shop, which will provide a firsthand glimpse of the hard work that occurs at the shop on a daily basis. The tour will highlight the school's stackable credential pathway, created by a partnership between Taconic High School and Berkshire Community College. The partnership received support from the US Department of Labor Community College Transformation Agenda grant. This pathway is modeled after the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership/Manufacturing Advancement Center Workforce Innovation Collaborative certification pyramid.
