Phi Theta Kappa

PTK LogoPTK is the international honor society of American community and junior colleges.

BCC's chapter is known as Xi Alpha. The purpose of this society is to recognize and encourage scholarship among junior and community college students. An induction program is held in the spring of each academic year.

Students must be currently enrolled at the college and have accumulated 12 or more BCC credits that apply toward graduation. Transfer credit is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  • To be eligible as a freshman, a student must have accumulated between 12 and 29 credits with a 3.700 or better cumulative average.
  • To be eligible as a sophomore, a student must have accumulated 30 or more credits with a 3.500 or better cumulative average. Students are encouraged to participate in community service opportunities.

Membership in PTK qualifies students to apply for special scholarships to many four-year institutions.
