Berkshire Enterprises

Berkshire Enterprises is all about helping entrepreneurs turn their business dreams into practical realities. Beginning in 1989 as an entrepreneurial training program, BE has worked with over 1000 people, 600 of whom have started businesses. 88% of those businesses continue to operate. BE has expanded its operation to include one-on-one consulting which is done in person, by phone or on-line. Our specialty is helping people write business plans, including evaluating business ideas, finding resources for market research, identifying target customers, analyzing the competition, developing marketing strategies, and compiling and analyzing financial information. BE’s staff consists of current or former business owners in the retail, manufacturing and service fields with extensive experience with start up businesses. BE operates in affiliation with BCC.

Berkshire Enterprises training programs are offered in January, March, and September. Special programs and consulting services are available year round.

Pittsfield Enterprise Center

Berkshire Enterprises administers a small business incubator in downtown Pittsfield. The Pittsfield Enterprise Center focuses on growing businesses, providing low cost space, a high-speed internet connection, business consulting and shared services. The Center is funded by the City of Pittsfield’s GE Economic Development Fund. An application process is required for all occupants.

Monthly breakfast forums on business topics are offered at the Pittsfield Enterprise Center. Registration is required but there is no charge to attend.

Berkshire Business Information Center

The BBIC is sponsored by the SBA, funded by local banks and located at Berkshire Enterprises. The BBIC provides high speed internet, videos, and extensive business resources at no charge to the general public. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.
