BCC Welcomes Senate President Rosenberg and Senator Downing

Berkshire Community College (BCC) President Ellen Kennedy welcomed Senate President Stan senator tour
Rosenberg (D-Amherst) and State Senator Benjamin
Downing (D-Pittsfield) to the institution’s Main
Campus on June 24.

The visit, which included a tour and Q&A session, was
the first stop of the day as Downing hosted Rosenberg
at a series of events in the City of Pittsfield.

Pittsfield Mayor Daniel Bianchi, North Adams Mayor
Richard Alcombright and Michael MacDonald, community
chair of the turf field project, also participated in the
tour and Q&A.

Administrators and staff from BCC filled the General  Bartlett Room in the Susan B. Anthony Center and joined in the conversation. Topics included the importance of K-12 education, diminishing school budgets as well as community and economic development issues.

Downing and the mayors lauded BCC for its role in supporting economic development and community issues.

In addition, President Kennedy asked that the Senate support bond bills to help upgrade and renovate the community college.

“I know the challenges that you (community colleges) face and the role you have in changes with the economy," said Rosenberg. "We'll continue to keep fighting for you guys.”
