FACULTY AND STAFF: Approximately 148 full- and part-time faculty; plus 156 full- and part-time professional, support, and technical staff.

ENROLLMENT: Over 2,400 students regularly enroll at BCC each year. 62% are part-time students (less than 12 credits per semester). 55% take day courses only, 23% evening courses only, and 19% both. 58% are female. 53% are age 23 or older. 95% come from Berkshire County.

JOINT ADMISSIONS: You can register in a joint admissions program as a freshman simultaneously at BCC and any other public college or university in Massachusetts. Upon graduation from BCC with a minimum 2.50 grade point average, you are guaranteed admission to that institution. If your final GPA is 3.00 or better, you are also eligible for a 33% in-state tuition wavier when you transfer.

TRANSFERS: Approximately 54% of BCC's students elected to continue their education at baccalaureate institutions. 345 students (including graduates and others) transferred to 115 colleges and universities throughout the country including RPI, Syracuse University, Arizona State, Skidmore, and Boston University. BCC students most frequently transfer to UMass/Amherst, MCLA, Westfield State, Williams, Mt. Holyoke, and Smith.

CAREERS: 91% of the graduates who elected to enter the job market upon graduation found work. 89% of career program graduates are employed in jobs related to their field of study. 71% are employed within Berkshire County.

HISTORICAL DATA:

  • 1960 - founded in downtown Pittsfield as the first of 15 community colleges established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1971 - relocated to present site with nine buildings on 180 acres.
  • 1984 - opened the South County Center, a satellite facility in Great Barrington.

ACCREDITATION: Fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
