On Sunday, December 3 from 9:00 a.m. – noon at Berkshire Community College, the recently created Disaster Relief Committee will be hosting a pancake breakfast to raise funds for educational institutions devastated by the recent natural disasters in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The menu for this pancake breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, coffee, and orange juice and will take place in the BCC main campus cafeteria. The cost to attend the breakfast is $10 (adults); $5 (children under 12), and free for children age 3 and under.
After Hurricane Harvey hit Houston over the summer of 2017, BCC raised the Texas state flag on campus as a sign of solidarity the day before the first day of the fall term, and shortly thereafter the Disaster Relief Committee was formed. The committee is made up of BCC faculty, staff and students. BCC students on the committee will be able to gain civic engagement and service learning opportunities from their participation, as well.
The goal of the committee is to raise at least $20,000 through a series of fundraisers that will be given to educational institutions impacted by natural disasters with whom the committee has made arrangements to support.
