Dec 1, 2009

The BCC Fine and Performing Arts Department will present its annual Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 12:15 and again at 7:30 in the Robert Boland Theatre at Berkshire Community College. Choral and vocal music and student-choreographed dance will be the focus of the concert.

The BCC Chorale, directed by Ellen Shanahan, professor of music, will present popular and classical music, including "He Watching Over Israel" from Mendelssohn's Elijah and "Anyway," a composition by Linda Spevacek with words attributed to Mother Teresa. Holiday favorites will include "Let It Snow" and the annual holiday sing-along led by the Chorale.

Berkapella, the college's a cappella singing group, will present madrigals, spirituals, sacred, and popular music, including a student-arranged rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine."

Soloists featured for both the day and evening performances are Jacob O'Brien, Judy McNutt, Ali Mitchell, Gabrielle Smachetti, and Joseph Sicotte. Soloists performing in the evening show include Brandon Nutting, Scott Kahlstrom, Sharae Gadson, Alexandra Fowler, Meredith McMillan, and Goncha Sarikcioglu.
