BCC to Participate in 'College Goal Sunday'
Jan 28, 2010

College-bound students and their families who would like help in preparing and filing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are encouraged to attend a workshop Sunday afternoon, Jan. 31, from 12 to 5 at the Intermodal Education Center, located on the second floor of the BRTA building on the corner of North Street and Columbus Avenue in downtown Pittsfield.

The workshop is part of College Goal Sunday, an annual event that mobilizes financial aid professionals from colleges across the state to help Massachusetts families of college-bound students with the FAFSA process (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/), the required form for those seeking grant or loan assistance; and with the CSS PROFILE, a form required by certain colleges in addition to the FAFSA .

Locally, this free workshop is sponsored by The Learning Connection Inc/Educational Opportunity Center in cooperation with financial aid professionals from BCC, MCLA and Williams College.

Students/families participate in a guided presentation that lasts about 1.5 hours; those who are ready to file their FAFSA can go directly to the computer room where other support personnel will be on hand to assist them as needed.

Online registration for the workshop at http://www.masscollegegoalsunday.org/ is recommended.

College Goal Sunday programs in Massachusetts are administered annually by the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA), with funding for such programs across the nation provided by the Lumina Foundation for Education.
