BCC Selects Lenihan as 2010 Valedictorian
May 27, 2010
PITTSFIELD, MA - Berkshire Community College (BCC) is pleased to announce that Kendal Lenihan has been selected as the 2010 valedictorian and will provide remarks at the commencement ceremony to be held Friday, June 4th at Tanglewood in Lenox.

Lenihan, 26, is a native of Pittsfield and currently resides in Lenox. A liberal arts major at BCC, Lenihan will be attending Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley to study political science. She aspires to attend law school and, this summer, has accepted an internship with the local district attorney's office.

"I believe that anything is possible with enough determination and hard work," Lenihan said about her professional aspirations. "It's never too late to pursue your goals."

Lenihan was selected by a committee comprised of faculty and administrators for her impressive academic abilities, including a 3.97 grade point average, as well as her natural poise and presence.

"Kendall is articulate, bold, determined and smart," said Frances Feinerman, BCC's Dean of Academic Affairs and chair of the selection committee. "She has faced challenges all too common among community college students and has demonstrated that these can be overcome."

As for her own experience at BCC, Lenihan describes the faculty and staff as "accessible and helpful."

"I've found that the college has a strong foundation of information and resources available to students," said Lenihan. "BCC is a great platform for anybody."

The 2010 Commencement exercises will begin at 4:30 PM on the 4th.
