Invasive Species Preventing Spread & Managing Infested Lakes Workshop

The BCC Environmental Science Program and the Lakes and Ponds Association of Western Massachusetts (LAPA-West) will co-host the 12th Annual Workshop at Berkshire Community College on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 8:00 AM to 12:45 PM. Admission to the workshop is free.

Workshop attendees will hear from industry expert Sarah Miller of SePRO on the potential means of combating Zebra Mussel infestations as well as a panel discussion, lead by Limnologists, on the management of invasive species. The event will close with LAPA-West's business meeting from 12:15 to 1:15 PM.

LAPA-West seeks to develop an active and effective network of stewards interested in improving water quality in the lakes and ponds of the watersheds of Western Massachusetts.  Since its formation in 199, LAPA-West has successfully assembled key stakeholders interested in developing and implementing lake management programs and has coordinated their activities, developed an active lake and pond water quality monitoring program, conducted water quality monitoring workshops, and gathered water quality data.
