BCC Announces Fall Workshops

The South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer the following workshop this fall.

"The Art of Photographing People - How to Take Outstanding Photographs of Friends, Family, and Just Ordinary People" (WKS-2238) a new course, teaches students to look for and record that decisive moment that makes the difference between an ordinary and an extraordinary photograph. Classes meet Friday, Sept. 16 through Nov. 4, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Cost for registration is $225.

"Be Your Own Interior Designer" (WKS-1205) assists participants with solving decorating, redesigning, and renovating dilemmas. Students will learn the design principles that professionals use along with many trade secrets. Attendees should bring photos of their setting (in jpg format) on a flash drive or CD, measurements, material samples, drawings or magazine pictures of their project to help assist in reaching their achievement. Class meets Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Cost for registration is $60.

"Antiques 101" (WKS-2100) discusses the language of antiques, methods of buying, displaying goods, selling and the legal requirements a dealer must address. This workshop covers the evolution of the designs of the 18th and 19th century furniture and other decorative art. Characteristics to look for in the determination of the age of an item, the Action Process and Appraisal Process are also covered. Classes meet Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Nov. 16, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Cost for registration is $150.

"America's Gilded Age" (WKS-2340) teaches about the greatest expansion period in American History and the era of Wharton, James and the Berkshire Cottages. Art, architecture and high fashion of that period will be discussed. Classes meet Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 17 through Oct. 24, form 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Cost for registration is $60.
