Writing Workshops to be Held at BCC
Aug 1, 2011

The South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer the following creative writing workshops this fall.

"The Fictionalized Memoir" (WKS-962) is a combination of memoir writing plus the use of fictional devices. Writers will be given weekly exercises to help develop their fictionalized memoir. These pieces will be read aloud and critiqued every week in an intimate, supportive atmosphere. Classes meet Thursday, Sept. 15 through Nov. 17, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Cost for registration is $225.

"Writing a Successful Screenplay" (WKS 923) designed for individuals who have always dreamed of writing an original screenplay. Participants are taken through the steps that are involved in writing and selling an original screenplay. Topics include story concept, story structure, and the correct way to format a screenplay. This workshop covers protecting your work, writing a query letter, finding an agent, and where to present your work without an agent. Classes meet Friday, Sept. 16 through Nov. 4, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $160.

For more information, or to register, call BCC's South County Center at 343 Main Street in Great Barrington, 413-528-4521. For long distance (in Mass only), call 800-816-1233, ext. 5201 or 5202.
