‘What If...?' on Display at BCC
Sep 23, 2011

"What If...?" an exhibit by William Jackson, will be on display in the Koussevitzky Art Gallery at Berkshire Community College (BCC) from Wednesday, October 12 through Thursday, December 22.

Jackson states "The exhibition "What if...?" includes a variety of compositions, each of which is the result of a process sequence. All are the products of various attempts to satisfy an ever-shifting, creative/technical curiosity. Most of the component materials and forms were subjected to one or more powerful variables, selected from a force-palette that includes high heat, freezing, and torque. Using a spectrum of forming and fabrication techniques, various surface treatments, and by combining or isolating the resulting transformations -- I have found some answers, while also creating new opportunities to experiment and to once again ask, "What if...?"

The artist has been widely exhibited in the US including the states of Massachusetts, New York, Arizona, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and New Hampshire. He received a MFA from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, in 1972 and a BA from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, New Hampshire in 1968.

Jackson will discuss the exhibit Thursday, November 17, at 12:15 PM in K-111 on BCC's main campus. Forum credit is available for BCC students attending this discussion.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery is located in BCC's Koussevitzky Arts Center. Gallery hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.   Images and descriptions for exhibition pieces can be found through this link.
