BCC Players to Perform Musical Comedy The Producers
Apr 2, 2012
The BCC Players will present the popular Mel Brooks musical comedy The Producers in the Robert Boland Theatre at Berkshire Community College. Directed by Tom Towne, the production will be performed Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 at 8 PM, Sunday, May 13 at 2 PM, Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 at 8 PM and Sunday, May 20 at 2 PM. Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for BCC faculty/staff, students, and senior citizens.

Described as an "equal opportunity offender," The Producers follows the antics of Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, and his mild-mannered accountant, Leo Bloom, who come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in Broadway history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars in order to put that money in their own pockets. There is only one problem: the show is a smash hit! They set about finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their transgressions, but the show is really a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends. The book is co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie) with music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks.

The cast features Corey Doucette as Max Bialystock, Cody Lee Miller as Leo Bloom, Lindsay DeWinkeleer as Ulla, Matt Coviello as Franz Liebkind, Tony Corbett as Roger Debris, and Christopher E. Dellea as Carmen Ghia. Musical direction is provided by Carlton Maaia II, and choreography is provided by Andrea Borak.

Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling the BCC Players box office at 413-499-0886. For further information, contact Ellen Shanahan at 413-236-4703 or eshanaha@berkshirecc.edu.
