BCC and Nuclea Biotechnologies Announce Third Summer Science Institute
May 10, 2012
Berkshire Community College (BCC) and Nuclea Biotechnologies are pleased to announce the 2012 Nuclea Summer Science Institute (NSSI) for high school juniors and seniors. The NSSI is a five-day educational program for young adults eager to learn some of the latest techniques in biotechnology. The program, which will be fully funded by Nuclea, is offered at no-cost to students and will run July 23-27, 2012 on BCC's main campus.

The collaboration establishes a framework for continuing education in the field of biological sciences and hands-on laboratory work to develop a well-rounded view of the biotechnology industry. The NSSI will be instructed by an array of people in the science community including local professionals from Nuclea Biotechnologies.

"Biotechnology is changing our medical care, making more individualized analysis and treatment possible. This is exciting and students can be prepared for the field as it emerges, learning from its leaders," said Frances Feinerman, BCC's Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The NSSI will enhance attendee's skills and knowledge both in the classroom and in the laboratory. Students may complete the online application at www.berkshirecc.edu/NSSIform. Application review begins May 25.

For more information on attending the NSSI, contact Charlie Kaminski at BCC at 413-236-2105 or ckaminsk@berkshirecc.edu; or Rachel Rosier at Nuclea at 413-749-4705 or rrosier@nucleabio.com.
