Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer the following computer workshops at its South County Center this fall. All classes, taught by Sharon Davis, Software Consultant, meet on Saturdays, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
"Computer Basics for the Adult Learner" (WKS-102) a workshop designed for parents, grandparents, and seniors, helps new or novice computer users, using Microsoft Windows 7, learn the parts of the computer and computer terminology. Participants learn the help function and basic computer maintenance. The course provides students with a solid foundation to use other computer software and the Internet. Classes meet Sept. 8 through Sept. 22. Cost for registration is $130.
"Understanding the Internet Adult Learners" (WKS-140) teaches students the difference between browsers and search engines and how to use them. The workshop also covers the dos and don'ts about banking and purchasing online and how to download a program from the internet. Students will also learn about Microsoft Window's security and how it can help protect their computer. Classes meet Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. Cost for registration is $80.
"Basics of Internet Email" (WKS-222) covers basic Internet messaging, creating, addressing and sending email. Students will learn how to attach a picture or document to a message, reply to and forward messages. Creating distribution lists, capturing email addresses and maintaining email folders will also be covered. Students must have an active email account and know their username and password in order to access their email. Classes meet Oct. 27 and Nov. 3. Cost for registration is $80.
"Microsoft Word 2010 - An Introduction" (WKS-268) designed for people who have Microsoft Word 2010, helps discover the ease with which they can use this extremely powerful program. Participants will learn to create, edit, save, correct and print documents as well as cut or copy and paste, change margins and line spacing, setting tabs, create columns, tables and understand Help. Classes meet Dec. 1 through Dec. 15.Cost for registration is $130.
