French Cooking Workshop Offered at BCC

The following French cooking workshop will be offered at the South County Center of Berkshire Community College (BCC) in Great Barrington this summer. The workshop is taught by Chef Jean Claude Vierne.

"French Cooking" (WKS-348) is designed to introduce French cooking and culture taught by a professional French Chef. Learn a complete menu that will include French cooking and knife techniques. The workshop will encompass cooking demonstrations in the classroom, video instruction, colorful stories of the food and culture of France, and a field trip to a local well-known restaurant kitchen. It will end with a three hour, hands-on cooking class in another professional kitchen where students will cook the entire menu and dine together. Classes meet Fridays, July 12 through Aug. 2, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Chef Jean Claude Vierne, a native of southern Provence, has been cooking and teaching professionally for 45 years in France, New York and the Berkshires. He attended culinary schools in St. Armand Montrond, France and came to New York to become a chef. Over the years he worked at the Rainbow Room, La Colombe d'Or, La Cote Basque and then on to a restaurant venture in Great Barrington. He is presently hosting "The Food Show" at WBCR 97.7 Great Barrington and teaching cooking classes.

The cost for registration is $125 plus $30 materials fee payable to the instructor.
