Berkshire Community College (BCC) will offer the following personal growth workshops this fall.
"Bartending and Mixology" (WKS-400) teaches the fundamental principles of mixology, bar organization and equipment. Participants will learn to prepare and serve mixed drinks, cocktails and wines, and review the legal ramifications of recently adopted serving laws. Participants must be 18 years old to take this workshop. Classes meet at the Italian American Club on Newell Street in Pittsfield, on Mondays, Sept. 16 through Nov. 18, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Cost for registration is $215.
"Introduction to Stained Glass" (WKS-1552) students will learn how to fabricate a simple stained glass panel in the copper foil technique and receive instruction in layouts/patterns, glass cutting, copper foiling and soldering. The emphasis of the class will be on developing a working knowledge of the steps involved in stained glass fabrication as opposed to stained glass design. Classes meet in the Koussevitzky Arts Center on BCC's main campus on West Street, on Saturdays, Sept. 28 through Oct. 26, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Cost for registration is $125. Additional $50 materials fee payable to the instructor at first class.
"Film and Animation Design" (WKS-2104) helps students gain competence in analyzing, creating, directing, editing and visually communicating sequenced art and design using methods that are specific to film and animation but may be applied to other creative endeavors such as media design, installation art, book art, graphic novels, choreography and performance art. Classes meet on the main campus in Melville Hall, Room 214, Tuesdays, Sept. 24 through Oct. 29, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Cost for registration is $180.
"Downsizing for Seniors" (WKS-1183) a new workshop, teaches key downsizing points, where to start, how to deal with sentimental items, what lists are important to make and how to determine how much and what to downsize. Class meets at the Intermodal Education Center in downtown Pittsfield, Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Cost for registration is $50.
