Annual Spring Concert Set for Friday
Apr 28, 2009

Berkshire Community College music and dance students will present their annual Spring Concert Friday evening, May 1 at 7:30 in the Robert Boland Theatre of the Koussevitzky Arts Center.

Featured choral groups include the BCC Chorale, singing musical theatre selections by Sondheim, Schwartz, Bernstein, Coleman and Gershwin, and Berkapella, the college's select vocal ensemble, performing a variety of a cappella music. Both groups are under the direction of Ellen Shanahan, professor of music.

Featured soloists performing selections from such shows as "The Producers," "Legally Blonde," "Guys and Dolls," "Le Nozze di Figaro," " Little Shop of Horrors," " Funny Girl" and "Threepenny Opera" include Robin MacDonald, Kimberly Gritman, Judy McNutt, Sharae Gadson, Brittany Herzog, Jacob O'Brien, Johnny Segalla, and Joe Sicotte.

BCC dance students will present "The Mystic," with music by John Hanks and choreographed by instructor Andrea Borak and members of THR 119 (Dance I) and THR 120 (Dance II). The dance is a movement ritual using breath as its inspiration. "Dance Monologues," choreographed by members of THR 121 (Choreography I) and THR 122 (Choreography II) under the direction of instructor Andrea Borak, is a set of initially unrelated dances, with distinct musical accompaniment for each, combined to form one dance.

Student band "Tempest", featuring Simon Brown, Devin Campbell and Jon Hubbard, will also perform three songs.

The performance is free and open to the public. Forum credit is available to BCC students.
