Empowering Women for Success
Jun 17, 2009
"Empowering Women for Success: The Beauty of Science - The Science of Beauty," a free summer program for young women in Berkshire County high schools, will be held Monday through Thursday, July 13-16.

Offered by Berkshire Community College, with corporate sponsorships by Cranwell Resort and Stop & Shop, the program facilitates academic success in math and science through hands-on experiences; and promotes wellness, self-awareness and confidence through an exploration of the mind-body connection.

Now in its third year, the program is run by professional women in such fields as biology, math, health and social sciences, and fine arts.  The primary goals of the program are to demonstrate how math and science are an integral part of everyday life, and to inform young women of the many exciting careers for women in math and science. The students also have opportunities to investigate college resources and opportunities.

The program culminates in a visit to Cranwell Resort, where students investigate health and wellness, and enjoy a free lunch at a nationally acclaimed resort and spa.

Since the program has a limited capacity, applications should be submitted as soon as possible.  All applications will be reviewed and an effort will be made to select students from each public school.

For more information, or to request a registration application, contact Michell Menard at (413) 236-2108 or via email at
