Wellness Day

Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10am–2pm
Paterson Field House Gym, BCC Main Campus

Hosted by Berkshire Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant Program

The day will be filled with activities such as chair massages, sample exercise classes, food sampling, a mini farmers market, raffles, and educational booths on how to care for yourself and loved ones. The event is free to the public, with nominal fees for massages ($10) and exercise classes ($5). All proceeds of the event go to All Out Adventures and The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts for Berkshire County.

  • Fitness Classes ($5)

    10:30 am — Yoga for Every Body

    Jess Levy is a massage therapist, yoga instructor and student of life. Currently, she is studying biology at BCC; an endeavor driven by her curiosity to always learn more about health, balance, wellness and being human. Come join Jess and practice mindfulness through breath guided Mediation in Motion

    11:15 am — Tai Chi

    Greg DiLisio has taught thousands of students at Kripalu Center, Canyon Ranch, and internationally since 1990, and is featured in the 60 min DVD: Taiji/Qigong, Following Movement in Nature. Come and learn traditional Taiji/Qigong. Whether you are interested in traditional martial arts training, or simply want to move, de-stress, and get healthier, you will enjoy this unique combination of exercises. A Chinese saying: "with your whole being, develop your life," sums up the ultimate purpose of Taiji/Qigong.

    12 pm — Cardio Kickboxing

    Kaitlin Montgomery is a group fitness instructor at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA since 2016. Kaitlin teaches a wide variety of classes ranging from Aerobics, Aquatic, and Strength Training such as kettlebells and TRX. Her certifications include AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, BOGA Fit, Indo-Row, TRX, TRX Rip and USAW. Join us for a high-energy martial arts and boxing-inspired training session. Be ready to kick, punch, bob and wave your way through this fun fitness challenge.

    12:45 pm — Glute Camp

    A combination of strength and endurance exercises using resistance bands to improve awareness and strength of your core and lower body, with Kaitlin Montgomery.

    1:30 pm — Line Dancing

    Jeannie Compter is the owner for 2 Flights Up at 399 1/2 Main St in Dalton, MA. She has been teaching since 1989 and she loves teaching the newest and the classic line dances. Jeannie believes that dancing is healthy for your mind, body & soul. Jeannie has 3 dances ready to teach and dance with you. All ages are welcome to come and join Jeannie as she teaches you to line dance step by step.

All Out Adventures is a nonprofit organization that promotes health, community and independence for people with disabilities and their friends and family through outdoor recreation. We have paddled, hiked, skied, ice skated, camped with thousands of people throughout Massachusetts. The programs are open to people of all abilities, ages, and experience levels. Most of our programs are free to participants or have a very nominal fee.

A private, nonprofit organization, the Brain Injury Association of MA for Berkshire County (BIA-MA) provides support and resources to brain injury survivors and their families; prevention programs to educate the public on the impact of brain injuries; education and training for brain injury survivors, caregivers and professionals; and legislative advocacy for improved community services and safety laws (seat belts, helmets).
