Create your Legacy at Berkshire Community College

The 1960 Society was founded to recognize outstanding individuals who have made plans, through their will or estate plan to leave a gift to the Berkshire Community College Foundation.  As the first Community College chartered in Massachusetts in 1960, Berkshire Community College has at the heart of its mission the goal of preparing students for the future, whatever that may be.  By making a planned gift to the BCC Foundation, you are creating a legacy that will strengthen the college's ability to meet its commitment to students' success forever.

There are many ways to create a legacy at Berkshire Community College.

By designating BCC in your will, you may be able to make a larger impact on the lives of students than you could during your lifetime.  You may designate a specific amount of cash, a percentage of your estate, or particular assets of your estate to the BCC Foundation.  As with all gifts to BCC, your bequest can be designated for a particular purpose dear to your heart, such as scholarships or academic program support, or unrestricted for whatever the greatest needs are at the time.

Retirement Plans and Life Insurance

Retirement plan assets and life insurance policies can be used to make significant gifts to the BCC Foundation while helping you and your loved ones avoid many tax penalties.  There are several ways to do this, ranging from simply designating the BCC Foundation as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary, to setting up charitable trusts.

Planned gifts are a way to maximize your charitable giving while providing financial and tax benefits to you and your family.  Please consult your attorney or certified financial planner to determine how you can best achieve your individual goals.

If you plan to leave a gift to the Berkshire Community College Foundation through your will or estate plan, we invite you to join the 1960 Society.    While surprise bequests are wonderful, starting a dialogue with the Foundation during your lifetime can help you to be sure your intentions for the use of your gift are clear, and can help us plan for the future.  Recognizing your generous commitment will also help to inspire others, unless you request anonymity.   A registration form awaits you...please click here.
