Giving to BCC

BCC Annual Fund

The BCC Annual Fund comprises gifts of all sizes from alumni, friends, faculty and staff. Donations to the Annual Fund have an immediate impact on students' success in the form of Emergency Financial Aid, technology upgrades and State-of-the-Art Classrooms, academic program initiatives and enhancements, faculty support, and other immediate college needs. Unrestricted gifts provide the greatest flexibility for the Foundation to support the greatest needs each year. Donors may also designate their gift to a specific initiative or program, and may choose to make a memorial or honorary gift.

Last year's Annual Fund gifts have made a difference at BCC:

→ $13,700 has been invested in the newest technology for a State-of-the-Art Classroom

→ Over $2,500 was provided to students in the form of Emergency Financial Aid

→ $6,000 was disbursed in grants through our Innovative Initiatives program, allowing faculty, staff, and students to receive funds for collaborative projects; that would otherwise not have funding. Some examples are field trips to New York City special exhibits, publishing of BCC's literary magazine, ZINE, recycling signs, and funding for students to travel to Boston to present at the American Psychological Association annual convention.

→ In addition, in 2008 the BCC Foundation provided $70,000 to the College from unrestricted gifts to fund wireless accessibility on campus, new science lab equipment, and to create a new Teaching and Learning Center for faculty to keep current on how to incorporate the newest technology into the classroom, as well as learning new strategies for teaching students of all abilities and different learning styles, and non-English speakers.

Your support for the Annual Fund will help us do that much more! Gifts to the Annual Fund can be made with cash, check, or credit card, as well as securities. Faculty and Staff of BCC can also support the Annual Fund through payroll deduction.

Scholarship Support

Over half of today's BCC students receive some form of financial aid, and scholarships are a wonderful way to invest in the future. You may fund a small scholarship with an annual gift, or you may consider creating an endowed scholarship fund with a gift of $5,000 or more. In 2008, over $158,000 in scholarships were presented to graduating or returning BCC Students at the Foundation's Annual Awards Night.

Endowed Gift to the BCC Foundation

You may choose to invest in future generations of Berkshire Community College students by creating an endowed fund with the BCC Foundation, or supporting an existing fund. When you designate an endowed fund for your gift, the principal is invested in perpetuity and the earned interest is used as the donor intends. The volunteer board of the BCC Foundation is responsible for the creation, oversight and stewardship of all endowed accounts.

Many of the BCC Foundation's endowed funds are named scholarships, however, there is significant opportunity to make an investment in academic program support and facility enhancements with new endowed funds, linking a family or company name permanently with Berkshire Community College.

Gifts to endowed funds can be made by check, credit card, and securities, as well as through planned giving.

For more information on creating or supporting an endowed fund, please contact the Director of Development, Jennifer Kerwood at 413-236-2188 or jkerwood@berkshirecc.edu.
