Gateway
Community College (Maricopa)- Electronic Portfolio
http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/e-portfolio/index.html
An excellent example of a successful e-portfolio site. The manual
explains the purpose of an e-portfolio, and why and how to make
one. The electronic portfolio page gives an overview and selected
artifact samples from first and second year student portfolio in
each of Gateways competency areas: communication/writing, communication/
reading, communication/speaking, critical thinking, problem solving,
computing, math and science and the humanities. The reflection page
explains why students should reflect on their work and how to do
it. There is also a common theme page with area for online discussion.
The only thing missing is the capability to archive material for
use as an interactive resume, although that may be in development.
This is an excellent resource to consult when planning a site. Note
the design element.

Scholarship
of Teaching and Learning
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
involves investigating student learning and using the findings to
implement informed changes in teaching practices. It facilitates
the sharing of our reflections with colleagues on findings and so
construct a new and ever expanding body of knowledge on teaching
and learning.
The SoTL approach thrives on examining practices, documenting work,
and sharing lessons so that teachers can build on them. By fostering
collaboration, cross-disciplinary teaching, innovation, and peer
review opportunities are created for communities of learning. SoTL
focuses on student learning and is driven by questions about how
to help students develop deeper understandings and improve critical
thinking.
The following are links to SoTL sites.
