BCC Offers UMass Community College Advantage Scholarship (CCAS)

Massachusetts' 15 community colleges and the University of Massachusetts (UMass) are excited to offer the UMass Community College Advantage Scholarship (CCAS).

The CCAS is designed to incentivize highly talented community college students to finish their associate degree and then complete their bachelor's degree at one of the four undergraduate UMass campuses. The CCAS hopes to retain diverse talent in Massachusetts while offering community college students the opportunity to complete their bachelor's degree with guaranteed financial support.

BCC and the UMass will begin offering the CCAS for the fall 2024 semester.

  • The CCAS guarantees students in the top 10% of their community college graduating class automatic admission to the UMass and a minimum $2,500 per semester ($5,000 annually) for a total of at least $10,000 for the students' final two years of college, awarded at the university's discretion.
  • Students remain eligible for additional aid based on individual circumstances.
  • The CCAS is designed to supplement federal and private grants awarded to the student.

To be eligible for the CCAS for fall 2024, students must:

  1. Complete their degree in the top 10% of their graduating class at BCC, which will be calculated as of the end of the semester prior to the UMass financial aid priority deadline. Students applying for fall admission must have been in the top 10% of their class as of the end of the fall 2023 semester.
  2. Complete the 2024 – 2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or equivalent state financial aid application.
  3. Be eligible for in-state tuition.
  4. Have earned 45 or more credits that are transferable to the UMass.
  5. Be on track to complete their associate degree prior to the fall 2024 semester.

BCC will review student records for eligibility. When criteria are met, BCC will contact students and provide instructions about moving forward.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do after graduating from Taconic High School, so I decided to try BCC and get my core classes out of the way, BCC was convenient in its location and I could save a lot of money in the process — the idea of owing people money really stresses me out.
