Keeping students engaged in remote learning

As you've heard,  BCC courses will be delivered remotely beginning on March 30 and will continue in this manner for the remainder of the spring semester. Our primary goal is to make sure that your coursework can continue and that any disruption does not present disadvantages to your academic or career progress.

While the operations of BCC will continue, our goal is to try to minimize the number of people coming on campus to reduce contact between individuals. That said, this is your College and we want you to engage with us by phone, electronically or in-person. We ask that if you do need to come to campus that you practice appropriate social distancing. Although the College is open, we ask you to call or email if you plan to visit the campus. We want to expedite your time on-campus and assist you in the best way that we can.

Hours and Information regarding on-campus support services:

The College is open on a limited basis, but most of the student support services are being offered remotely or we are inviting students to make appointments to come to the College so as to continue to practice social distancing. Please note that as of May 6, 2018, all residents are required to wear face masks in public places; this includes the BCC campus.


Digital Commons  
The Digital Commons is closed but there are staff available to help from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Please make an appointment to access technology by contacting the Digital Commons team.

WiFi Availability on Campus - Parking Lots
If you don't have stable Internet access, you can drive to the College and hop on the College's WiFi from your car. Just use the map above to note where the WiFi signal is strongest from the parking lots.

Jonathan Edwards Library
The Jonathan Edwards Library is closed but there are staff available to help from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday
Our librarians, Karen and Andrea are here to help you with your reference and research needs so please contact them by phone at 412-236-2157, by email at, by Text at 413-650-1275, or through our Chat Box located on the BCC Library webpage.  We can also provide one-on-one Zoom sessions by appointment.   

Remote Tutoring is available, 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, by appointment.

Campus Cupboard Food Pantry
The Campus Cupboard is still available by appointment, just contact the COVID hotline at 413-236-1601 or email to schedule an appointment.

The Bookstore is closed at this time - but you can contact them at the link above to have your questions answered.

Testing Center
Remote proctoring is an option for students who would like to test as soon as is possible. To be able to engage in remote proctoring, a student will need a computer or laptop that has a camera. Phones are not recommended. A student will need to provide a full name, date of birth, email, phone number and whether they have taken the test before. To make an appointment, please email

The Writing Center
The Writing Center is available to all students through a self-enroll Moodle course starting Monday, March 30. The site will be monitored by our fantastic team of writing tutors and students are invited to submit essays, lab reports, resumes, research papers, or any other writing they may be working on. There are downloadable PDF writing handouts and a forum for general writing questions.

Academic Advising - Career Development - Transfer Counseling
The Academic Advising, Career Development and Transfer Counseling Offices will be available remotely. Please contact  the Academic Advising, Career Development, or Transfer Counseling offices to schedule a remote meeting.
