BCC to Hold Culinary Hybrid Learning Program

Culinary Hybrid Learning Program

Beginning March 6, 2023, Berkshire Community College (BCC) will hold a seven-month-long Culinary Hybrid Learning Program. Our program design includes both hands-on and online learning to assure participants build the basic skills they'll need to join the restaurant and hospitality industry.

This hybrid learning option provides everything participants need to perform all the basic culinary skills used in professional kitchens right in their own homes — pots, pans, knives, and measuring spoons are all included. A laptop to access online content and shopping cards will enable learners to purchase all the ingredients required for each course segment.

Along with access to powerfully produced online programming through Rouxbe, students will join us on campus for monthly hands-on training. Masters and seasoned professionals with decades of experience will inspire students and serve as in-person guides through key learning moments in each of the program's modules:

  • Knife Sharpening and Honing
  • Dish Costing and Financial Planning
  • Bread Making
  • Artisanal Pasta
  • Sausage and Basic Butchery
  • Chocolate Making

Additional important program areas include:

  • Professional and Life Skills Workshops (including Workforce Communication, Reflection and Meditation, Interview Skills and Health Department training).
  • Professional Micro-Credentials applicable around the county and across the country.
