Berkshire Community College (BCC) has announced that Douglas Crane and Jeffrey Hiltpold have been appointed to the College’s Board of Trustees.
“We are so pleased to have Douglas Crane and Jeffrey Hiltpold serving on the BCC board of trustees,” said BCC President Ellen Kennedy. “This is a very exciting time at BCC as we continue our strategic planning process. As we move toward implementing our strategic plan, their experience and insight will be invaluable. We are delighted that they agreed to serve in this capacity and look forward to the unique perspectives that they will bring to the board and to BCC.”
Douglas Crane
Crane is the founder of the New Dalton Group, a company established to assist both existing organizations and start-ups with developing solutions and execution oriented plans related to business development; strategic planning; commercializing a technology; or designing an organization, supply chain, process or a product.
In 2013, Crane concluded a 30 year career with Crane & Co. a 200+ year old, privately held paper manufacturing company best known for its social stationery products as well as its more than 130 years of supplying currency paper to the US Government.
He spent much of his career on the development and supply of high security products and most recently held the position of vice president of business development and government relations where he managed business development activity across all three divisions.
Spanning his career at Crane & Co., he served in a variety of roles including engineering, process design, product development, manufacturing management, strategic planning and government contracting.
An active community member, Crane serves on the board of the Berkshire Innovation Center and the Pittsfield Economic Development Authority, a quasi-public agency created by a special act of the Massachusetts State Legislature, for the purpose of being the recipient and redeveloper of approximately 52 acres of General Electric Company’s former industrial facility located in the heart of Pittsfield, Mass. He recently served on the board of Berkshire United Way.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University in Providence, R.I., a master’s degree from the Institute of Paper Science and Technology in Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. He resides in Dalton, Mass.
Jeffrey Hiltpold
Hiltpold, a BCC alumnus (Class of 2009), currently serves as a senior configuration management engineer for Mission Integration Systems at General Dynamics – Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) in Pittsfield, Mass. where he has worked since 2009. In his position, he is involved with software development, production and life-cycle support for the Navy’s submarine programs.
In addition to being appointed to BCC’s Board of Trustees, Hiltpold is also a member of the College’s newly created Alumni Association Board.
A dedicated community volunteer, he has worked with several organizations including the Knights of Columbus, the Berkshire Museum and the Berkshire United Way Committee at GDAIS. In addition, he is actively involved in local Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related initiatives.
Hiltpold first earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and computer information systems (C.I.S.) from Bryant University in Rhode Island. He later sought to expand his computer knowledge and opted to enroll at BCC where he garnered an associate’s degree in C.I.S. He subsequently earned a master’s degree in computer science from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. He resides in Pittsfield with his wife, Tracy.
