Berkshire Community College (BCC) takes pride in recognizing academically accomplished students. Whether you prefer to work hard independently to earn a high grade-point average (GPA) or you do your best work when in the company of other highly motivated students, BCC offers a variety of opportunities for both full- and part-time students who achieve academic excellence.

Awards

  • Dean's List (Full-Time Students)

    GPA

    • 3.250 to 3.749 for Honors
    • 3.750 to 4.000 for High Honors

    Eligibility

    Full-time, matriculated students who complete at least 12 credit hours during a fall or spring semester of one academic year. Courses must be traditional graded*, cannot be repeated courses, must be 100 or 200 level.

    Recognition

    • Congratulatory letter after completion of the fall or spring semester.
    • Press release listing students on Dean's List.
    • Notation on student's academic transcript.
  • Dean's List (Part-Time Students)

    GPA

    • 3.250 to 3.749 for Honors
    • 3.750 to 4.000 for High Honors

    Eligibility

    Part-time, matriculated students who complete at least 12 credit hours during one academic year. Courses must be traditionally graded*, cannot be repeated courses; must be 100 or 200 level.

    Recognition

    • Congratulatory letter after completion of the spring semester.
    • Press release listing students on Dean's List.
    • Notation on student's academic transcript.
  • Honors Convocation

    GPA

    • Top 5% of the student body, generally with a cumulative GPA of 3.750 or higher.

    Eligibility

    Matriculated students currently enrolled in fall semester for at least 3 credits who have also completed at least 12 BCC credits with at least 6 of these credits taken during the prior academic year. These 12 credits must be 100 or 200 level; must be traditionally graded*.

    Recognition

    • Recognition at fall semester Honors Convocation Ceremony.
    • Library books dedicated to the honored students.
  • Graduation Honors

    GPA

    • 3.250 to 3.749 for Honors
    • 3.750 to 4.000 for High Honors

    Eligibility

    Recognizes the cumulative achievement of graduating students of associate degrees at the time of graduation.

    Recognition

    • Notation in commencement program and on student's academic transcript.
    • Gold tassel awarded at commencement to signify high honors.
    • Silver tassel awarded at commencement to signify honors.
    • Library books dedicated to the honored students.

*Courses with earned credits of P/NP (Pass/No Pass) are not eligible. Students who fail to complete a course are not eligible for the Dean's list whether they are part-time or full-time students.

International Honor Society of American Community and Junior Colleges

PTK is the BCC's chapter known as Xi Alpha. The purpose of this society is to recognize and encourage scholarship among junior and community college students. Students are provided with leadership opportunities and are encouraged to participate in community service projects.

PTK membership qualifies students for special scholarships at many four-year institutions.

The Berkshire Honors Scholar Program at BCC provides a creative and challenging student-driven experience that provides a student with the unique opportunity to realize his/her potential. The program is designed for highly motivated and capable students who want to pursue the highest level of academic achievement possible at BCC and who are interested in courses that ask students to go a bit further, to look a bit more deeply, and to work more independently.
