Berkshire Community College (BCC) is proud to announce the grand opening of our Women’s Center Tuesday, April 17, in the Student Engagement Center in the Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Building.
“Having a Women’s Center has been a BCC goal for a while now,” Beth Wallace, Assistant Dean of Students said. “We brought together faculty, staff and a student to form a committee that met and decided that enhancing emotional, physical and financial wellness were the Women’s Center’s goals.”
Wallace continues, stating “A student support system like the Women’s Center that increases access, fosters student development, leading to healthy individuals, in turn increases retention and persistence, and improves graduation rates.”
On April 17: the day will begin with a screening of Girl Rising: The Power of Stories to Change the World, at 12:15 p.m. in the Connector with guest speaker Christina Lowery, who is the CEO of Girl Rising and is passionate about narrative storytelling as an engine of social awareness.
