Baseball Coaches

  • Michael Muscato, Head Coach

BCC proudly announces the hire of Coach Michael Muscato as Head Baseball Coach. BCC is excited to have Coach Muscato's experience, energy, and focus on student success on and off the field lead this new generation of Falcons.

Coach Michael Muscato is excited and humbled at the opportunity build a college baseball program from the ground up, leading player development and having a positive impact on ball players in the Northeast from youth levels to the NJCAA.

    Coach Michael Muscato

Coach Muscato returns to the NJCAA where as a player he helped lead the Glendale Community College Gauchos to an NJCAA world series appearance in 2003 after transferring from the University of Arizona.

Muscato, a former AZ All-State high school prospect, hit .500 with 7 HR's as the Arizona 5A Region player of the year out of Mountain Ridge High School. Muscato would later captain NCAA Division I Nicholls State University. Drafted by the New York Yankees Muscato played two seasons of professional baseball — hitting .305 as a rookie switch hitting catcher and finishing his career with the Somerset Patriots while also logging innings at 1st, 3rd, LF, CF, and RF.

After finishing his athletic career, Muscato went back to finish his bachelor's degree and then obtained his master's degree in public administration.

Professionally, Muscato is a business owner. Most notably he was the business manager of a hall of fame rock band. His continued passion for community and sports kept him active coaching various youth and adult athletic programs, private baseball instruction from youth to professional levels, ownership of a strength and conditioning facility, and youth travel baseball program.

Muscato's main focus as the head baseball coach of BCC is to bring his personal athletic and professional experience to help every player transition to graduate and/or transfer to a four year school, as well as have a positive impact on their community. His focus is on player development, post-BCC placement, and building a baseball program the community can be proud to support.

The game of baseball has given me so much both on the field and in preparation for life after baseball. I look forward to using my personal athletic, educational, and professional experience to help develop and prepare as many ball players here in Pittsfield as I can — to build a program the community can be proud to support. I am humbled, honored, and excited to get to work.

Coach Muscato is married to his wife Alicia and they have two sons Cooper and Canton (named after the Baseball and Football Hall of Fame). Originally from Arizona, the Muscato family now resides in Vermont and couldn't be happier to be members of the Northeast.

  • Kris Roberts, Assistant Coach

Kris Roberts grew up in Southern California and participated in a wide variety of sports from a young age through high school, but predominately played baseball throughout his youth including high school at Whittier Christian and Chino High Schools.

He then joined the United States Marine Corps where he was able to get a special duty assignment to play baseball through the Marine Corps playing against a variety of Armed Services base teams and colleges.

Upon finishing his service, he continued to play baseball throughout various leagues in Southern California and began coaching youth baseball as well.

He left California when his wife Sarah desired to raise their first child in Pittsfield, where she was born and raised.  Coach Roberts has coached youth sports here in the Berkshires for the past 12 years with a wide selection of organizations, but most recently has been coaching the Post 68 American Legion junior and senior teams.  He has also served as a board member for Pittsfield Babe Ruth in recent years.

He joined the BCC coaching staff because he believes in this opportunity to continue to grow baseball in the Berkshires and that BCC baseball fills a need here in Western Massachusetts.  He will be working primarily with the infielders and assisting wherever he is needed.

"I think baseball is the greatest game and so much can be learned both on and off the field.  Baseball teaches its players to be resilient in the face of continued failure.  There is no other sport or job in which you can fail 7 out of 10 times and still be considered an all-star.  You must have a strong mental character and determination to succeed in baseball and in life."
