Health Science

Bill Moro was born and raised in Great Barrington and graduated from Monument Mountain Regional High School. He is the first student to take advantage of our brand new articulation agreement with the College of Pharmacy at Western New England University.

Bill used to work in the construction industry when he got injured and decided that he wanted to change professions, return to school and become a pharmacist. After extensive research into PharmD programs, he decided that Western New England University was where he wanted to go. "All of the prerequisites I needed that are required for WNE's PharmD program were offered by BCC. With BCC's proximity to home and the large savings on tuition it was an obvious decision to fulfill the necessary prerequisites at BCC."

One day after a chemistry class he was approached by his professor Dr. Collins who informed him that BCC was working on an articulation agreement with WNE and that Bill might be a great first candidate for it. After talking to BCC's Interim Dean of Nursing, Dr. Aylesworth, Bill learned that in order to take advantage of the articulation agreement he had to graduate from BCC. "So, with that news I was no longer just taking only the courses necessary to fulfill WNE's prerequisites, I would be a BCC graduate. Dr. Aylesworth also informed me of a new Health Science Professional Transfer degree being offered and that it would work perfectly for me. He was correct and my decision was made."

As a nontraditional student at BCC, Bill felt like he was able to create special relationships with his professors. "I found all my professors to be exceptional, knowledgeable, caring people. There were two professors, Gina Foley and Dr. Jenn Collins, whom I found special relationships with. They not only helped guide me along my scholastic journey, but we also shared laughs and concerns about things outside of school. We are similar in age so share perspectives that more traditional students would generally not have. It was nice to feel comfortable to sit and have conversations about things that were important to us like family and the Red Sox."

Bill played a critical role in completing the agreement between BCC and WNE. After being accepted to the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Western New England he became aware that the agreement had not been completed yet. After speaking to Dr. Aylesworth about his concerns, BCC staff along with the responsible Dean at WNE and WNE staff accelerated the complicated process and were able to bring it to fruition.

Because this agreement is now in place, I and future aspiring pharmacists have the opportunity to take advantage of a substantial scholarship. I am extremely grateful for all the people involved in expediting the articulation agreement between BCC and Western New England making it possible for me to benefit from it.
