The Berkshire Community College STEM Starter Academy Program is geared toward incoming freshman interested in high-demand careers in a variety of STEM fields. Each cohort of STEM Scholars will gain transition-to-college skills and develop college success strategies that will give them the tools they need to be STEM-ready in college and in the workplace.
Summer & Fall Opportunities
The BCC STEM Academy includes two sessions that will prepare students for academic success at BCC and beyond — the Summer Success Program and the Fall Support Program. Both are held on BCC's Main Campus.
Summer Success Program
July 18 – 22, 2022
BCC STEM 101 (mandatory for all students in the academy)
July 25 – 29, 2022
STEM Explore! (not mandatory but highly recommended and encouraged)
Math Coaching Available!
Math Coaching is available and recommended for students who may need or want to boost to their fall mathematics placement and courses. This is highly recommended for students whose programs of study, such as Engineering and Computer Science, require calculus as Accuplacer is required to obtain that placement. Math Coaching may also be helpful for students who have difficulty with math and/or seek extra support.

Fall Support Program
Pending grant approval, the 2022 STEM Fall Support Program will include the following
- Monthly group meetings
- Peer mentoring
- Monthly academic progess reports
- Faculty/STEM advising
- STEM Starter activities on- and off-campus
- Field trips
- Scholarships for Spring semester
