BCC Instructors Receive Honor for E-Learning

August 16, 2016

Berkshire Community College (BCC) was recently recognized as an eLearning exemplar at the 11th annual mccabeMassachusetts Colleges Online (MCO) eLearning Conference held earlier this summer at Greenfield Community College.

MCO created the Courses of Distinction (COD) Awards to recognize faculty whose course designs best exemplify online education’s potential to enhance teaching and learning.

BCC Assistant Professor of English Nell McCabe and former Assistant Professor of Psychology Jason Chiang were recognized individually with a COD award.

McCabe was recognized for ENG 102: Composition II, a blended course, which combines face-to-face interaction such as in-class discussions, active group work, and live lectures with typically web-based educational technologies.

Chiang was selected for PSY 204: Human Growth & Development, an online course which emphasizes student engagement through discussions and a final Application Paper which asks students to apply concepts from the course to their own lives.

Both McCabe and Chiang gave presentations about their award-winning courses at the MCO eLearning Conference.  For more information about MCO, visit www.mco.mass.edu.
